Apache fun
Posted by christine - 01/25/07 at 03:01:17 amAfter spending solidly over 3 hours tonight uninstalling Apache 2.0, downloading, compiling, making, and installing Apache 2.2, trying to figure out why Apache 2.2 had no PHP support, trying to install PHP5, discovering all of PHP5’s dependencies and individually apt-getting those… I think I’m done messing with the server. For now.
Edit: two hours later, 5:58AM… Nope. Nope. Apache 2.2.3 and mod_auth_mysql… Thank you for making my life fifteen times more complicated.
Mashup Camp!
Posted by christine - 01/22/07 at 12:01:47 amWhat a crazy week — Mashup University (sort of), Mashup Camp, and the PLW-sponsored Eat Your Media prototype-a-thon, soaking up my time from Tuesday on… and now I’m enjoying indoor heating in a midtown Manhattan apartment, courtesy of Lehman Brothers (and my friend, their illustrious employee).
It’s insanely windy and cold outside, which I’d ordinarily be bitter about if I hadn’t already been bitter about this winter being too warm to snow. I still love this city — my sister’s roommate remarked today that she was jealous of my sister because I take the Chinatown bus from Boston into town so often, and her sister’s stuck on the other side of the country.
What can I say… I’ve been bitten by the bug. Tiny properties and dirty subways aside, I’d take the raw energy of this city over nearly anywhere else.
